Club Meeting: Slumming It in Kenya

Rotarian Leslie Brunker will discuss her experiences while performing service with DAY Africa, a nonprofit in Kibera, Kenya.

After spending a few days in Kibera, the third largest slum in the world, a person’s perspective of everything can change. Rotarian Leslie Brunker spent three days with Rotary Peace Fellow Solomon Odero, who runs the nonprofit organization in Nairobi called DAY Africa. There were encounters with the women who participate in the program and learning of their stories. Leslie brings to us her very personal experiences there to report on Rotary projects and continued programs to help women and girls in Kenya avoid prostitution as a means of support.
