Club Meeting: Can Grab Bars be Sexy? Understanding an Aging Market

Jackie Haddon and Beth Kellan, co-founders of LiveAble Homes, will share a practical look at accessible and universal design, key aging demographics, and the reality of today’s accessible housing inventory. They’ll highlight solutions for integrating universal design standards, how to position yourself as an accessibility expert, and provide an overview of the LiveAble Homes Program, including certifying and marketing accessible listings.

Jackie Haddon and Beth Kellan, two of the co-founders of LiveAble Homes, will lead a practical conversation on accessible housing and today’s aging-in-place market. They will break down the core definitions of accessible and universal design, share key aging demographic data, and look at the current reality of accessible housing inventory both locally and across the country.

Their presentation will also highlight practical solutions for incorporating universal design standards, guidance on positioning yourself as an accessibility expert, and an overview of the LiveAble Homes Program. They will also touch on certifying and marketing accessible listings. It’s a helpful look at how thoughtful, well-planned design can support independence and comfort for people of all ages.

Her work in accessible housing development, consultation and design supports seniors and individuals with mobility challenges while elevating voices traditionally overlooked in the residential construction industry.
