Club Meeting: Broadway Rose Theatre Company

The leaders of the professional Broadway Rose Theatre Company in Tigard, Oregon will share stories and history from the company's 34 years of existence.

Broadway Rose Theatre Company is Oregon’s premier musical theatre company. Since 1992 Broadway Rose has produced unparalleled professional musical theatre experiences that invigorate audiences and enrich the communities in Washington County and its surrounding areas. Company co-founder and managing director Dan Murphy, alongside executive director Meredith Gordon, will share a history of the company’s growth and impact along with stories from behind the scenes at the theater!

About us: The Rotary Club of Wilsonville meets weekly Thursdays at noon to carry out its purpose of providing service and fellowship to members and the Wilsonville community. Guests are welcome. Official bios: Dan Murphy is the managing director and co-founder of Broadway Rose Theatre Company along with his wife, Producing Artistic Director Sharon Maroney. Dan has also directed and performed in Birmingham, Alabama; Sanford, North Carolina; Fort Collins, Colorado; Lancaster, Pennsylvania; and the riverboats along the Mississippi. Dan is very involved in the community; he served as a Rotarian at the Tigard Noon Club 2002-2026, was knighted a Royal Rosarian in 2015, and named Tigard’s First Citizen in 2016. He currently sits on the boards of the Explore Tualatin Valley, the Tigard Rotary Foundation, and formerly served on the boards of the National Alliance for Musical Theatre, Portland Area Theatre Alliance, Tigard Chamber of Commerce, and Tigard Downtown Alliance. Dan is also active with the Tigard/Tualatin School District and directed Tualatin High School’s annual musical for over 18 years. He is a proud member of Actors Equity and SAG-AFTRA.

Meredith Gordon joined Broadway Rose in 2023 with an MBA from Willamette University and more than 15 years of experience developing community partnerships, raising critical funds, and managing board leadership for mission-driven organizations. She has conceptualized and launched young professionals’ boards for SMART Reading and Boys & Girls Aid, respectively, and led the campaign committee for Portland Community College Foundation’s $30 million Campaign for Opportunity. She serves as a founding advisor for the FLIP Museum, a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to re-establishing a children’s museum in the Portland metropolitan area. Meredith began her career as a musical theatre performer. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Musical Theater from the University of Northern Colorado and performed with many local theater companies, including Broadway Rose, before hanging up her tap shoes to start a family.
