Former Oregon Ducks football star Damon Griffin will discuss all of the changes in intercollegiate athletics over the past few years. He will explain the new name, image and likeness (NIL) rules allowing college athletes to earn an income, and will also talk about what this means for the athletes as well as the programs.
Presenters Grace Kuto and Tamara Kaufman will explain how the Najijali Project aims to provide vocational training and wrap-around services to teenage mothers in Chwele, Kenya to lift themselves and their children out of poverty.
Anthony Pinchuk, the refugee program supervisor with Lutheran Community Services Northwest in Portland, Oregon, will give an overview of Refuge and Placement (R&P) and Afghan Placement and Assistance (APA) programs and how they work, as well as the challenges faced when working with refugees from Ukraine and Afghanistan.
Bobby Deetz will present on the topic of digital fluency. What is digital fluency? How does one become digitally fluent? What are some tips and tricks to becoming more confident with your tech? Bobby will answer all these questions and more.
Dr. Scott Burns will speak on the ice age floods, how they shaped the local geology, and what is being done to educate the public today, including the opening of the second Ice Age Flood Geologic Trail Visitor Center in Tualatin. Scott is a professor emeritus of geology and past chair of the department of geology at Portland State University, also serving as associate dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at PSU from 1997–1999.
Jennie Hill, owner of J. Hill Property Group, will speak on the new Claremont phase of Villebois and the importance of community involvement.
Rudy Kadlub, co-founder and CEO of Kabuki Strength and the CEO of Costa Pacific Communities, will discuss the importance of physical activity and resistance training as major keys to health and longevity. Rudy will detail his own fitness journey as well as outline ways that lifting weights can contribute to increased quality of life and vitality for aging populations.
Dr. Ken Fincher, vice president of university advancement at the Oregon Institute of Technology and executive director of the Oregon Tech Foundation, will discuss ethical decision-making for today’s business leaders, including "rules, principles, and standards for deciding what is morally right and wrong when doing business." He will explain how having a culture of ethical decision-making can benefit all involved.
