Pat Wolfram, Rotary Club of Wilsonville president, 2019–20

As I reflect on my year as the president of the Rotary Club of Wilsonville, which ends this month, I guess it’s an understatement to say that the second half of my year in this leadership role was nothing like I thought it would be. As we all individually deal with the impacts of COVID-19 on our lives, I first hope that all of you are safe and well and finding ways to cope with the many changes in every aspects of our lives.

As with every other organization, the Rotary Club of Wilsonville had to quickly shift how we meet as an organization, and how we serve our community.

Then at the same time as the virus impacts our communities, we see the sickness of racism bringing our nation to the streets to demand change and accountability. As a community organization, our club is also asking ourselves the same question: is there more that we do to ensure a welcoming and equitable club and city?

Yes, this is an extraordinary time. And we want to continue being part of the positive changes and movement in Wilsonville and the other communities and issues that we touch.

I want to thank all of the members of our Rotary Club who have provided so much support to our community across all of the projects we did during 2019-20. Thank you as well to everyone in Wilsonville for your support of projects such as the Heart of Gold fundraiser in February; Through a Child’s Eyes last July; Good Eggs fundraiser dinners; the Summer Concert Series; the International Student Exchange; and other efforts.

Please join me in welcoming the incoming president of our Rotary Club, Joe Schwab. As Joe takes the reins of the Club, we will be working with members on many initiatives, including the adaptations we need to make to ensure safe delivery of all of our programs and initiatives.

Best wishes to all of you for a safe and enjoyable summer.
