The Wilsonville City Council adopted a proclamation honoring our club’s 50th anniversary at its Monday, May 19, 2025 meeting. “We commend the Rotary Club and its members for their outstanding contributions to the well-being of our city and beyond,” the proclamation stated in part. “We encourage community members to attend the Wilsonville Rotary Summer Concerts and to donate as you are able so we together can end polio once and for all.” The proclamation in full reads as follows:

 

Proclamation: Rotary Club of Wilsonville Month, June 2025

WHEREAS, The Rotary Club of Wilsonville was founded in 1975 and is now celebrating 50 years of service to the Wilsonville community; and
WHEREAS, The Club conducts the Through A Child’s Eyes (TACE) program at the Coffee Creek Correctional Facility in partnership with the Oregon Department of Corrections to promote healthy parent-child relationships and help break the cycle of incarceration; and
WHEREAS, The Club produces the Wilsonville Rotary Summer Concerts as a community-building cultural event with high-quality, family-friendly professional musical entertainment for all to enjoy; and
WHEREAS, These concerts have raised more than $108,000 to support Rotary International’s goal of eradicating the debilitating disease of polio worldwide; and
WHEREAS, The Club recognizes outstanding community volunteers every year through the First Citizen program and the annual Heart of Gold Gala; and
WHEREAS, The Club provides $7,500 in scholarships annually to outstanding and deserving Wilsonville-area high school graduates; and
WHEREAS, The Club conducts a Rotary Youth Exchange program supporting inbound and outbound students for short-term and long-term exchanges that benefit the community and promote cross-cultural understanding; and
WHEREAS, The Club conducts several Good Eggs omelet breakfasts each year to support worthwhile local organizations, projects and causes; and
WHEREAS, The Club conducts numerous one-time and ongoing service projects annually in support of students and community organizations; and
WHEREAS, The Club promotes the cause of world peace with its local Peace Pole program, including at City Hall, and plans to participate with the City’s cooperation in an Oregon Peace Trail and in making Wilsonville a City of Peace;
NOW, THEREFORE, the Wilsonville City Council hereby proclaims June 2025 as Rotary Club of Wilsonville Month in celebration of the Club’s 50th Anniversary. We commend the Rotary Club and its members for their outstanding contributions to the well-being of our city and beyond. We encourage community members to attend the Wilsonville Rotary Summer Concerts and to donate as you are able so we together can end polio once and for all.
