SUMMARY:Rotary in Action: How Communities Can Help End Human Trafficking
DESCRIPTION:Amelia Stansell\, National Vice President of the Rotary Action Group Against Slavery and District Governor of Rotary District 7610\, will share her personal and Rotary journey in the fight against modern slavery and human trafficking. A longtime Rotarian\, business owner\, and co-founder of the Fauquier Anti Sex Trafficking Alliance (FASTA)\, Amelia has been instrumental in building community-wide awareness and education efforts focused on prevention and survivor support. Through FASTA\, she has led a series of public forums in schools and churches alongside partners such as Anti-Trafficking International\, Reset 180\, Homeland Security Investigations\, and the FBI. Topics have included sex trafficking\, human trafficking\, and sextortion. \nAmelia serves on the global board of the Rotary Action Group Against Slavery\, represents Virginia as a state coordinator\, and is a regional leader on Rotary’s human trafficking prevention task force. She has presented at three Rotary International Conventions\, sharing her knowledge and encouraging collective action. Her work highlights how Rotary partnerships can create real impact and how local clubs can take practical steps to protect vulnerable individuals and promote community safety. \nThis presentation provides a deeper understanding of the realities of human trafficking today and explores the role Rotary can play in driving positive change through service\, education\, and collaboration. All are welcome. Dinner will be provided. \nThe Rotary Club of Wilsonville meets weekly Thursdays at noon to carry out its purpose of providing service and fellowship to members and the Wilsonville community. For more information\, email president@wilsonvillerotary.com. \nOfficial bio:   \nAmelia Stansell is the District Governor for Rotary District 7610\, which includes 53 clubs across Northern and Central Virginia. She is a Past President of the Rotary Club of Warrenton\, a mother\, and the owner of Unstoppable Futures\, a strategic planning and business consulting firm. \nIn 2018\, Amelia co-founded the Fauquier Anti Sex Trafficking Alliance (FASTA) with her Rotary club. FASTA’s mission is “to inoculate our community through awareness and prevention education\, and support survivors and their families when we fail.” The alliance includes local organizations\, agencies\, and individuals working together toward this goal. \nWith FASTA members\, she leads “Community Conversations” held in schools and churches. These forums have featured partners such as Anti-Trafficking International\, Reset 180\, Homeland Security Investigations\, the FBI\, and the Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office. Topics include Human Trafficking\, Sex Trafficking\, and Sextortion. \nAmelia joined the Rotary Action Group Against Slavery (RAGAS) after speaking at the 2019 Rotary International Convention in Hamburg\, and again in Houston (2022) and Melbourne (2023). She now serves as Vice Chair of the RAGAS Global Board of Directors and State Coordinator for Virginia. She is also the Zone 33 representative on Rotary International Director Patrick Eakes’ Human Trafficking Prevention Task Force. \nOutside of Rotary\, Amelia enjoys traveling\, gardening\, and relaxing with friends and family over a glass of wine or beer.
