SUMMARY:Club Meeting: Keeping Our Power Affordable and Reliable
DESCRIPTION:Northwest RiverPartners is a member-driven nonprofit advocating for clean\, reliable\, and affordable hydropower on behalf of community-owned utilities\, ports\, and businesses across the Pacific Northwest. A recent DHM Research survey commissioned by NWRP found that concerns about electricity costs are rising across the region\, with at least three in four residents supporting the use of hydroelectric dams. Clark Mather\, Executive Director\, will offer a timely regional perspective on these trends and what they mean for local communities including how growing demand from data centers and electrification\, alongside existing agricultural needs\, is shaping policy decisions that will determine how the Columbia-Snake River hydropower system performs in the years ahead. \nAbout us: The Rotary Club of Wilsonville meets weekly Thursdays at noon to carry out its purpose of providing service and fellowship to members and the Wilsonville community. Guests are welcome. Lunch is available off the menu; please arrive and order by 11:45 a.m. if you are ordering lunch. For more information\, email president@wilsonvillerotary.com. \nBio: Clark Mather was appointed executive director of Northwest RiverPartners in 2024. In this role\, he reports to the board and leads the Northwest RiverPartners team to educate communities and advocate for clean\, reliable and affordable hydropower. Clark joined the organization after 11 years with Tacoma Public Utilities (TPU)\, serving the last seven years as the organization’s government affairs officer. Prior to his time at TPU\, Clark served in senior advisory roles for U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell (Washington) and Former Congressman Norm Dicks (Washington Sixth District). Throughout his congressional service\, Clark focused on important regional issues including energy\, defense\, veterans\, water\, public lands\, economic development and agriculture. Mather earned Bachelor of Arts degrees in both communications and political science from Washington State University\, graduating Summa Cum Laude. Mather is a past chair of the National Hydropower Association’s legislative affairs committee and is a 2019 graduate of the American Leadership Forum. \n\n\n	Related
