SUMMARY:Club Meeting: The Jubitz Family Foundation and Working for Peace
DESCRIPTION:Rotarian Al Jubitz\, co-founder of the Jubitz Family Foundation\, will share the story behind the foundation’s mission to build stronger communities and a more peaceful world. A lifelong advocate for peace and collaboration\, Al will discuss how the foundation supports organizations focused on conflict transformation\, civic engagement\, and community resilience. \nAs a founding member of the Rotarian Action Group for Peace (RAGFP)\, Al brings a Rotary-centered perspective to the global conversation on peacebuilding. His presentation will explore how individual Rotarians and clubs can contribute to a more peaceful future—locally and globally—through education\, advocacy\, and strategic partnerships. \nThis conversation will offer insight into the values that drive the Jubitz Family Foundation and inspire us to consider the many ways Rotary can be a force for peace. \nThe Rotary Club of Wilsonville meets weekly Thursdays at noon to carry out its purpose of providing service and fellowship to members and the Wilsonville community. Guests are welcome. Lunch is available off the menu; please arrive and order by 11:45 a.m. if you are ordering lunch. For more information\, email president@wilsonvillerotary.com. \nOfficial bio:   \nA fourth generation Oregonian\, Al attended Beaverton High School\, graduated from Yale University (BS) in 1966 and received his MBA from the University of Oregon in 1968. His 34-year business career spanned numerous assignments with Jubitz Corporation in Portland\, Oregon\, including growing the DAT Services Division for 23 years prior to its sale in 2001. Later that year he established the Jubitz Family Foundation.  \nAs President and founder of the Jubitz Family Foundation\, Al oversees its grantmaking and partnerships with organizations that foster peacebuilding and environmental stewardship. The Foundation’s main program\, the War Prevention Initiative\, is active in publishing peer-reviewed academic research through the Peace Science Digest which it founded in 2014.  \nAn avid third generation Rotarian\, Al co-founded the Rotary Action Group for Peace in 2012 and continues to inspire Rotary International on various peacebuilding initiatives.   \nAl and his wife Nancy have three daughters and five grandchildren.
