DESCRIPTION:Claire Sarnowski\, a 16-year-old high school senior at Lakeridge High School in Lake Oswego\, will discuss her activism on behalf of genocide education\, her friendship with Holocaust survivor Alter Weiner\, and her forthcoming book on the experience\, published by Little\, Brown. \nThe Rotary Club of Wilsonville meets weekly Thursdays at noon to carry out its purpose of providing service and fellowship to members and the Wilsonville community. The club is holding hybrid “Virtual In Person” (VIP) meetings. For more information\, email president@wilsonvillerotary.com. \nClaire Sarnowski is a 16-year-old rising senior at Lakeridge High School in Lake Oswego. As a freshman\, her efforts alongside her friend\, Holocaust Survivor Alter Wiener\, led to the passage of a statewide policy (Senate Bill 664) that requires Oregon public schools to teach about the Holocaust and other genocides. Claire has been a Top Fundraiser for the National MS Society\, raising over $120\,000 since age 3. She is the Grassroots Fundraising Lead and State-Level Genocide Education Lead for the national committee STAND: The Student-Led Movement to End Mass Atrocities\, the Fundraising Director for I Love Lake Oswego Clothing Closet\, and the Lieutenant Governor of Division 64 and District Project Chair for Pacific Northwest Key Club. She has written a memoir for middle grade readers\, which is scheduled to be published by Little\, Brown Books for Young Readers in 2022. Claire’s work has been locally and nationally recognized by the Anti-Defamation League at their 2019 In Concert Against Hate at the John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts\, BBYO at the 2020 International Convention\, Wholistic Peace Institute at the Heart of Gold Awards\, and the Florida Holocaust Museum at their To Life Gala.  \n  \n\n\n	Related
