SUMMARY:Club Meeting: The Najijali Project
DESCRIPTION:All around the world\, peace starts at home. Empowering young women to control their future is key! The Najijali Project aims to provide vocational training and wrap-around services to teenage mothers to lift themselves and their children out of poverty. In this exciting and informative presentation\, Tamara Kaufman and Grace Auto will teach the meaning of “Najijali\,” share the conditions of the girl child in Chwele\, Kenya\, and explain how the project builds a lasting bond between our two cultures. Join us and learn how\, together\, Rotary members can provide opportunities to girls in Kenya to become independent mothers\, setting an example for their children and their communities. \nGrace Kuto was born and raised in Kenya and now is the volunteer President of the Harambee Centre in Portland\, Oregon which fosters educational\, healthcare\, community engagement\, and service projects that improve lives in rural Eastern Africa and brings them together with the people of the Pacific Northwest. Tammy Kaufman is a communications specialist who works with nonprofit Community Action Agencies to Help People Help Themselves. The two were brought together by Rotary and share a passion for service. \nThe Rotary Club of Wilsonville meets weekly Thursdays at noon to carry out its purpose of providing service and fellowship to members and the Wilsonville community. The club is holding hybrid “Virtual In Person” (VIP) meetings. People may attend in person\, or they may use Zoom (http://www.tinyurl.com/Rotary97070). Guests are welcome.
