SUMMARY:Club Meeting:  Running Toward a New Future at Coffee Creek
DESCRIPTION:Amanda Guile-Hinman and Jenny Tomka\, co-executive directors of Reason to Run\, will present their nonprofit organization’s running program\, which has been operating at Coffee Creek Correctional Facility since 2015. The program offers an 8-week training course for adults in custody\, culminating in a 5K race held inside the prison. Participants receive race bibs\, post-race treats\, and certificates to celebrate their achievements\, mirroring the experience of a typical 5K race. \nUpon release\, program graduates are given a care package\, including running shoes\, socks\, and a sports bra\, to support their continued wellness journey. To date\, over 900 adults in custody have participated in the program\, and more than 280 post-release care packages have been distributed. \nAmanda and Jenny will highlight how Reason to Run fosters physical and mental well-being for its participants through running. \nThe Rotary Club of Wilsonville meets weekly Thursdays at noon to carry out its purpose of providing service and fellowship to members and the Wilsonville community. For more information\, email president@wilsonvillerotary.com. \nOfficial bio:   \nAmanda Guile-Hinman started her legal career in private practice representing\, among other clients\, state and local governments in matters ranging from tort liability to ADA and FHA compliance. Amanda then transitioned in-house and has served as legal counsel for local governments since 2016. She currently serves as the City Attorney for the City of Wilsonville\, Oregon\, representing the City in a wide variety of contract\, litigation\, real estate\, and government law matters. Amanda is a graduate of Willamette University (Salem\, Ore.) and University of Denver Sturm College of Law (Denver\, Colo.). \nJenny Tomka began her healthcare career at the front desk of an orthopedic surgery clinic in Silverdale\, WA in 2007. Since then\, Jenny has served patients in Washington\, California\, and Oregon by leading operational teams in outpatient clinic settings within private practices\, small hospitals\, and large health systems. Jenny is currently the Vice President of the OHSU Practice Plan which represents all clinical physicians and advanced practice providers within the School of Medicine and has oversight of compensation\, clinical contracting\, health system partnerships\, recruitment\, and clinical services at OHSU and across the state. Jenny is a graduate of the University of Portland (Portland\, Ore.) and California State University\, Long Beach (Long Beach\, Cal.).
