With her extensive experience and knowledge\, Shelley aims to educate and support those affected by Alzheimer’s disease. \nAlzheimer’s is a growing crisis that is having a significant impact on individuals\, families\, and communities. This presentation aims to help you better understand\, cope\, and plan for this complicated disease. Key points of the presentation will include the definitions of Alzheimer’s and dementia\, risk factors\, treatments\, the ten early warning signs\, and available resources and support for patients and caregivers. \nThe Rotary Club of Wilsonville meets weekly Thursdays at noon to carry out its purpose of providing service and fellowship to members and the Wilsonville community. After her own parents’ difficult experience with Alzheimer’s\, she became committed to educating others about coping with the disease\, as well as advocating for better treatments\, and ultimately\, a cure. She holds a B.A. and M.A. from San Jose State University and has enjoyed the last eight years living with her husband\, Bill in Newberg. She is also a fellow Rotarian\, as she’s been a member of the Newberg Early Bird Rotary for the last seven years.
