SUMMARY:Club Meeting: Catering to Different Learning Styles
DESCRIPTION:Dr. Louise Debreczeny is owner\, chief executive officer and consultant at The Institute for Neurosemantic and Sociocognitive Learning LLC (INSL LLC). Most students are visual thinkers\, but schools generally use teaching strategies aimed at auditory thinkers. This means that many students are left behind because the way information is being presented to them does not match how their brains learn. To bridge this gap\, visual thinking strategies based on the Dr. Ellyn Lucas Arwood’s revolutionary Neurosemantic Language Learning Theory can be used by educators and parents to provide meaningful learning opportunities for all students. Louise will provide an introduction to Dr. Arwood’s learning theory and what we can do to help learners in our community.  \nThe Rotary Club of Wilsonville meets weekly Thursdays at noon to carry out its purpose of providing service and fellowship to members and the Wilsonville community. The club is holding hybrid “Virtual In Person” (VIP) meetings. People may attend in person\, or they may use Zoom (http://www.tinyurl.com/Rotary97070). Guests are welcome. Masks are required for in-person attendance except when eating\, drinking or speaking at the microphone. For more information\, email president@wilsonvillerotary.com. \nDr. Debreczeny completed her Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) degree with an emphasis in Neuroeducation at the University of Portland in 2019 and was supervised by Dr. Ellyn Arwood (creator of the Neurosemantic Language Learning Theory) through that process. She is both a general education and a special education teacher specializing in working with students\, parents\, and educators using the Neurosemantic Language Learning Theory. Her training includes a Master in Teaching degree in elementary education K-8 from City University of Seattle (2008)\, followed by a special education endorsement from the City University of Seattle (2010). She completed a postgraduate certificate in Neuroeducation from the University of Portland in 2015\, and then went on to complete her doctoral degree in education in 2019. Debreczeny has also participated in numerous workshops\, classes and trainings on language and learning and is very excited about the progress she sees students make using the Viconic Language Methods™ developed from Arwood’s Neurosemantic Language Learning Theory. She holds a Professional Teaching Certificate from the State of Washington and worked for eight years in public schools prior to becoming a consultant with APRICOT Inc.\, where she worked for more than seven years before opening the INSL LLC. Debreczeny has a varied background and brings experiences from many walks of life to her work with students\, parents\, and educators. Previously\, Debreczeny worked in horticulture for 20 years\, including being a North Carolina Registered Landscape Contractor and Certified Plantsman. Prior to her horticulture career\, Debreczeny was a classical musician and completed six years of conservatory training in orchestral performance and earned a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts (1984). Debreczeny also served in the North Carolina Army National Guard in the 1980’s attaining the rank of Sergeant E-5. \n
