SUMMARY:Summer Concert: Kalimba
DESCRIPTION:Kalimba\, The Spirit of Earth\, Wind & Fire is a nationally recognized tribute band bringing the iconic sounds of Earth\, Wind & Fire to life. Founded by lead vocalist Thomas “Chazz” Smith in 2011\, the group has grown into a powerhouse 10-piece band complete with a full horn section\, passionate vocals\, and an unmistakable groove. \nThe evening begins at 5:30 pm with rising alternative/rock artist Callyn Moore\, an 18-year-old multi-instrumentalist who will perform a mix of original songs and well-loved favorites. Then at 6:30 pm\, Kalimba takes the stage for a vibrant night of hits including “Shining Star\,” “September\,” “Let’s Groove\,” “Boogie Wonderland\,” and more. \nKalimba’s energy on stage is matched by their precision and deep respect for the original band’s legacy—earning praise from Earth\, Wind & Fire’s own Sheldon Reynolds\, who said\, “Out of 1000 other bands that I have heard play this material\, Kalimba is the first band that gets it like it’s supposed to be played.” \nBased in the Pacific Northwest\, Kalimba has toured nationally\, performing at casinos\, festivals\, and top jazz clubs across the country. Their electrifying live shows are a treat for the eyes and ears\, making them a perfect fit for a summer evening of dancing and soul-filled celebration. \nWilsonville Rotary Summer Concerts were started in 2002 as the club’s gift back to the Wilsonville community\, held at Wilsonville’s Town Center Park. These concerts take place on four consecutive Thursdays starting July 17\, offering free\, family-friendly events with headliner acts beginning at 6:30 p.m.\, and opening acts at 5:30 p.m. To stay updated with concert news and other club information\, sign up for our public updates at www.wilsonvillerotary.com/signup. \nAt the Wilsonville Rotary Summer Concerts\, we’re accepting donations to End Polio Now. Polio remains endemic in just two countries — Pakistan and Afghanistan — but with your help we will make it zero! All donations to End Polio Now are being matched two-for-one by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Your $20 becomes $60. That’s impact! Please give. \n\n\n\n\nOfficial bios: \nKalimba\, The Spirit of Earth\, Wind & Fire\nKalimba is a nationally touring tribute band bringing the legendary sound of Earth\, Wind & Fire to life.
