SUMMARY:2nd Annual Rotary Night at the Summer Concerts
DESCRIPTION:Rotarians from around the region are invited to gather for the 2nd Annual Rotary Night at the Wilsonville Rotary Summer Concerts on Thursday\, July 17. This evening of fellowship\, music\, and community connection will take place at Town Center Park in Wilsonville\, with a special Rotary gathering area and hosted snacks starting at 5:00 p.m. \nThe concert will feature a farewell performance by Portland legends Johnny Limbo and the Lugnuts\, a band that’s been bringing high-energy rock and roll to Northwest audiences since 1978. Don’t miss one of their final shows as they take the stage at 6:30 p.m. An opening act will perform at 5:30 p.m. \nDuring the evening\, donations will be collected for End Polio Now. Then at 6:30 pm\, Johnny Limbo and the Lugnuts take the stage for their grand finale. \nWhat began as a party gag in 1978 evolved into an iconic act with a loyal following. Known for their energetic tributes to the golden era of rock and roll\, Johnny Limbo and the Lugnuts have been lighting up stages with hits from the ‘50s and ‘60s—from Elvis and the Beatles to the Beach Boys and the Supremes. With a dynamic horn section\, vibrant choreography\, and a talented female vocalist\, their nine-member band delivers a full-on nostalgic experience that gets the crowd singing\, dancing\, and smiling. \nOver the years\, they’ve shared the stage with greats like Chuck Berry\, Chubby Checker\, and the Righteous Brothers\, and performed across the globe—including Japan\, Korea\, and the Philippines. Whether opening for the Oakland A’s or playing at the Los Angeles Olympics\, their showmanship has always been front and center. \nAs we say goodbye\, we celebrate Johnny Limbo and the Lugnuts for the joy they’ve brought to generations of concertgoers. His album\, John Knowles Classic Country\, is available on Spotify and other streaming platforms. He recently signed with an agent in Nashville and has co-written and recorded new songs with Nashville professionals. \nIn addition to his solo work\, John also performs in musical theatre and will be accompanied for this concert by maestro Christopher Woitach on guitar.

DESCRIPTION:Kalimba\, The Spirit of Earth\, Wind & Fire is a nationally recognized tribute band bringing the iconic sounds of Earth\, Wind & Fire to life. Founded by lead vocalist Thomas “Chazz” Smith in 2011\, the group has grown into a powerhouse 10-piece band complete with a full horn section\, passionate vocals\, and an unmistakable groove. \nThe evening begins at 5:30 pm with rising alternative/rock artist Callyn Moore\, an 18-year-old multi-instrumentalist who will perform a mix of original songs and well-loved favorites. Then at 6:30 pm\, Kalimba takes the stage for a vibrant night of hits including “Shining Star\,” “September\,” “Let’s Groove\,” “Boogie Wonderland\,” and more. \nKalimba’s energy on stage is matched by their precision and deep respect for the original band’s legacy—earning praise from Earth\, Wind & Fire’s own Sheldon Reynolds\, who said\, “Out of 1000 other bands that I have heard play this material\, Kalimba is the first band that gets it like it’s supposed to be played.” \nBased in the Pacific Northwest\, Kalimba has toured nationally\, performing at casinos\, festivals\, and top jazz clubs across the country. She began playing cello at the age of 7 and now performs with vocals\, piano\, drums\, and guitar. Her set will include a few original tracks along with familiar favorites. Callyn is excited to share her music with the community to kick off an unforgettable evening.
