Sherine and Jaimy Beltran accepted the 2015 Wilsonville First Citizen award from Rotary Club of Wilsonville president Kyle Bunch.

Jaimy and Sherine Beltran were named the newest Wilsonville First Citizens at Celebrating Service: The 2016 Heart of Gold Dinner & Auction. The event, held February 6 at the Wilsonville Holiday Inn, was produced by the Rotary Club of Wilsonville and benefitted service projects that are completed by the club and funded by the Wilsonville Rotary Foundation.

“The Heart of Gold event was all about Celebrating Service, and the Beltrans have set a high bar when it comes to serving the community in many different ways,” club President Kyle Bunch said. “They exemplify the spirit of service that makes the Wilsonville community so special. We were pleased to honor the Beltrans, along with all of this year’s outstanding First Citizen finalists.”

Jaimy and Sherine are the owners of Beltran Properties, a real estate brokerage with offices in Wilsonville and Portland. They are involved in many efforts to help the needy. They are sponsors and volunteers with Wilsonville Community Sharing, which provides assistance and resources to needy Wilsonville-area residents. They volunteer with Project Esperanza, which provides food, clothing and Christmas toys for children in the local Spanish-speaking community.

Jaimy and Sherine are supporters of the My Kitchen project, which teaches home cooking, shopping and nutrition skills to at-risk youth. They are members of the BNI networking group, and they sponsor several local parent-teacher groups and school sports teams. In addition, Jaimy is involved in coaching youth sports, and he also teaches Sunday school.

Other finalists included Dave and Sally Bany, Curt Kipp, and Eric Postma.

The Rotary Club of Wilsonville is comprised of 40 local professionals who share a belief in fellowship and service. The club meets weekly on Thursdays at noon at the Al Kader Shrine Center in Wilsonville, and is responsible for many local and international service projects.

Local projects include Through A Child’s Eyes, a partnership with the Oregon Department of Corrections to strengthen families and break the intergenerational cycle of crime; the Wilsonville Rotary Summer Concerts, to bring the community together and raise funds for End Polio Now; omelet breakfasts supporting schools and feeding veterans and local volunteers; scholarships for Wilsonville High School and Art Tech High School Graduates; the Wilsonville Chess Club to teach local primary and middle school students strategic thinking and self-discipline; and the new Human Trafficking Awareness project to help victims find their way out.

The club is also conducting a $4,000 capital improvement project for Wilsonville Community Sharing to improve the services and assistance available to local needy families. Internationally, the club leads or contributes to various international solar energy, clear water and disaster assistance projects each year.
