WILSONVILLE, OREGON, June 30, 2014 — Every year for Rotary Clubs around the world, the end of June marks the changing of the guard, along with a look back and a look ahead — and so it is for the Rotary Club of Wilsonville. The club installed a new president and board Friday, June 13 at Charbonneau Country Club.

Taking the helm for 2014–15 is Mary Stewart, who co-owns MARStewart Creative Group with her husband, Mark. Handing the gavel over to her was John Holley, a retired resident of Charbonneau, who served as club president for the 2013–14 Rotary Year.

“John Holley led our club to an outstanding year,” Stewart said. “We increased our membership to 40 Rotarians, which is the most members we have had a long time. We also raised money to end polio and other efforts, and secured the assistance of Tualatin Rotary, for Operation Solar Hope. This project, with the assistance of Oregon Institute of Technology students, installs solar electric systems in schools and medical clinics in rural Tanzania.”

Having completed his year as president, Holley will now serve for a year as president of the Wilsonville Rotary Foundation, which oversees spending on service projects.

“I’m personally excited about the coming year that we will have under Mary’s leadership,” Holley said. “Her warm and welcoming presence will make her an excellent ambassador to the community as we continue our mission of ‘Service Above Self.’”

Mary’s efforts as club president will be supported by the following board members, who are listed with place of employment (unless retired):

  • President Elect — Kyle Bunch, American Family Insurance
  • Secretary — Christine Heisen, PNCE Health and Welfare Trust
  • Treasurer — Josh Dalglish, U.S. Bank
  • Past President — John Holley
  • Director of Administration — Bob Harland
  • Director of Community Service — Eugene Wallace, Family Business Advisers
  • Director of Membership — Brad Settlemyer, Prographics Services
  • Director of Public Relations — Curt Kipp, Oregon Association of Nurseries
  • Director of The Rotary Foundation — Richard Martens
  • Sergeants-at-Arms — Tim Crowley, Crowley Landscape Management Inc., and Andy Green, Green Group Real Estate

Joining Holley on the five-member Wilsonville Rotary Foundation Board will be Mary Stewart, Josh Dalglish, Brad Settlemyer and Gerry Scovil.

At the installation dinner, outgoing president Holley presented awards to some outstanding members of the club. Rotarian of the Year went to Steve Perry, who led the club’s membership recruitment efforts and expansion of Chess for Success to all three primary schools. The Service Above Self award went to Jake McMichael for his efforts in taking over leadership of the Wilsonville Rotary Foundation after a vacancy arose. And the Service Above Self – New Member Award went to Don McVay, for his tireless efforts in hosting the club’s holiday party and showing up for every service project during the year.

Also at the installation dinner, five members were recognized for perfect attendance during the year. They are John Holley, Reg Keddie, Jake McMichael, Don McVay and Brad Settlemyer.

The Rotary Club of Wilsonville performs several significant local and international service projects. These include Through A Child’s Eyes, the annual Heart of Gold Celebration, the yearly Wilsonville Rotary Summer Concerts to benefit End Polio Now, annual college scholarships for graduating high school students from Wilsonville, and the signature Wilsonville Rotary Omelet Breakfasts to raise money for local schools and feed local volunteers. The club also leads and supports different international service projects every year.

“We are always looking for more community minded people who are looking to join leaders, exchange ideas and take action,” Stewart said. “If this sounds like something you’d be interested in, we would love to get to know you.”
